Galaxy. A 30.92 carat Australian boulder opal holding whole constellations — green, gold and blue turning against the dark of its natural ironstone. Some stones are described. This one had to be named.
Boulder opal forms in thin seams through ironstone, and the finest pieces keep the host rock behind the colour — it is what gives the stone its depth, and why no two boulder opals can ever repeat.
The opal is set in 18.9 grams of platinum, surrounded by 2.50 carats of round diamonds — a halo of white light around the colour.
