Doublet Opal Gemstones

Australian Doublet Opal Gemstones are two-layered gemstones often created from crystal opal. when the opal has sufficient play-of-colour but insufficient strength to be set alone in jewellery (when the precious opal is perhaps too thin to be safely set).

This results in an equally vibrant and colourful opal gemstone at significanly reduced costs due to there being less precious opal by volume when compared to a solid opal gemstone.
